12,000 views of over 90 videos

The council's YouTube channel was set up in November 2009 and recently topped 12,000 views for the 90+ videos currently available.

The number one video on the channel is a virtual guide to the new Riverside House building, offering a guided tour of the new facilities. This is closely followed by a video of Chico launching last year's pantomime.

There are so many positive things happening in Rotherham that we looking at as many ways as possible to spread the message and get people as involved with the experience as we could.

By using YouTube we're attempting to bring alive the things we do as a council, and to make it easier for people to communicate and understand us.

YouTube offers a fantastic opportunity for us to show events rare footage like the view from the top of Rotherham Minster's spire, or events you may have missed like the pantomime launch. In fact, one of the most interesting revelations is that views are not confined to Rotherham, or even to England. There are people visiting these links from such far flung places as Spain, America, Mexico, Canada, Russia, China and even Vietnam.

To celebrate out 12,000th view, we've re-edited one of our most popular videos, "Beautiful Views of Rotherham", with images taken from Boston Castle, Riverside House and the top of both Keppel's Column and Rotherham Minster.
