Our main role is the preparation of the new  Local Development Framework (or LDF for short) which will eventually replace the existing  Unitary Development Plan. The LDF will take us to 2021 and will set out policies and proposals for new development, such as housing, industry and how you travel around and about the Borough. The LDF is the main document to help the Council decide on planning applications. The LDF also seeks to protect and enhance the environment while at the same time helping to promote Rotherham’s continued economic regeneration.

We have produced a short information film on the planning system. The film outlines how we guide development in the borough, what the LDF will cover and how it links to the  Community Strategy.
