Domestic Violence

Safeguarding Children and their Carers experiencing Domestic Abuse

Responding to domestic violence, like safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, is everyone’s responsibility in Rotherham. It requires appropriate and timely support to families. It is a complex issue which requires a co-ordinated multi-agency response. Rotherham Children’s Board and Safeguarding Children Board are committed to all the outcomes of the Every Child Matters agenda and achievement of the outcome that children affected by domestic violence are identified, protected and supported will be an important measure of the success of integrated children’s services.

RSCB and Rotherham Domestic Violence Forum have adopted an Inter-agency Protocol and Practice Guidance (based on original work in Sheffield) which is attached. There are also links to two new useful leaflets, one for children and another for women, produced by the NSPCC.
