Rotherham's Teenage Pregnancy rate has come down by 9% since 1998. Both under 16 and under 18 conceptions have fallen since the start of the National Strategy to cut numbers of unintended conceptions amongst teenagers. The Boroughs rate (51.5) remains above the national average (42.1 for England) but is now the lowest in South Yorkshire.
Government identified 'hot spots' for teenage pregnancy remain across the country and in Rotherham. Rotherham's strategy will focus on reducing unintended conceptions in its highest rate areas over the next few years.
