The work confirms that the air quality in some areas of the M1 corridor are unlikely to improve sufficiently to meet Government standards by 2005. It confirms that the existing Air Quality Management Areas should remain, and recommended that a new area be declared near Wales.
This report has been commended by the Government as an example of good practice.
