The Service we provide
- Rotherham Borough Council provides a Burial and Cremation service, providing facilities for burials cremation and advice on bereavement matters throughout the Borough of Rotherham.
- We operate in the Crematorium at East Herringthorpe, and within nine cemeteries throughout the Rotherham Borough as well as acting as agents for five Parish Council Burial Authorities.
- We provide facilities for burial of those of the Muslim faith.
The service you can expect
- We provide a booking facility for cremations 365 days of the year
- We provide a booking facility for short notice burials for those of the Muslim faith every day of the year except for Christmas day, Boxing Day and New Years day, and for all other burials every weekday of the year except public holidays
- An officer of the Council is be present at each funeral service to ensure that high standards are maintained.
- All cremations are carried out in accordance with the Code of Cremation Practice as set out by the Federation of British Cremation Authorities.
- We will process applications for cemetery memorials within 5 working days and send approvals to memorial masons promptly
- We will process application for cremation Commemorative Plaques and Books of Remembrance within 5 working days and acknowledge your order by post promptly.
- Facilities will be made available for those wishing to carry out family history research.
- We ensure that the cemeteries and gardens of remembrance are maintained to a high standard in accordance with the specification which can be viewed by arrangement in the cemeteries offices at any reasonable time by appointment.
- We offer a chaperone service is available for anyone who may need accompanying to visit any of our cemeteries or crematorium by mutual appointments.
The service we achieve
- During the year from 1st April 2003 to 31st March 2004 there were:
1988 cremations;
686 burials carried out in borough and parish council cemeteries.
