The Service We Provide

The structural engineers in the Buildings Team provide specialist engineering advice to other Streetpride teams and Council services including:

• Structural design of new schools and civic buildings. Please see the example projects on the left.
• Structural defect inspections, "Right to Buy" reports, movement monitoring, underpinning schemes and advice for the Decent Homes scheme, all for 2010 Rotherham Ltd.
• Structural surveys for grant work and disabled adaptations via the Agency Grants team.
• Structural defect inspections for educational and civic building projects.
• Site investigation reports.
• Checking of calculations submitted to the Planning & Transportation Service as part of Building Regulations applications.
• Supervision of construction work.

The Buildings Team is a member of the  Rotherham Construction Partnership.

The Service You Can Expect

• We aim to produce defect inspections and reports within 28 days, though this timescale depends on occupiers granting access and the availability of labour to undertake trial holes, CCTV surveys and opening-up works.
• We aim to produce "Right to Buy" structural reports within 14 days, subject to the occupier granting a timely appointment.
• Building regulations calculations will be approved within 7 days when they are found to be correct.
• Structural design work is produced as required by the client's programme.

The Service We Achieve

• We provide an in-house professional consultancy service at a lower cost than comparable consulting engineers.
• The team produces a small year-end trading surplus which is used to support other Streetpride objectives.

External Customers

We are pleased to offer a structural consultancy service to external customers, such as managed educational establishments, parish councils, nearby local authorities, private individuals and companies.

New enquiries regarding building regulation calculations, or reports about dangerous structures should go to  Building Control in the Planning and Transportation Service.
