Graffiti is an eyesore and it blights the community, spoiling the area for both local people and visitors. This enviro-crime leads to areas becoming targets for other types of crime and anti-social behaviour. Local people become more worried about what might happen to their family and their property. Do you know who is responsible? The Council, working with Crimestoppers, has launched a campaign to offer rewards of up to £1,000 to people who ring in with the names of graffiti vandals where this leads to an arrest and charge for criminal damage. Anyone with information on graffiti vandals can ring Crimestoppers for free on 0800 555111. All callers are anonymous. You will not be asked for your name.If these vandals can be stopped, the Council expects to achieve a significant reduction in graffiti, an improvement to neighbourhoods and better use of ratepayers' money.Streetpride is already effective in removing graffiti but it is vital that everyone works together to stop it in the first place.
