Adopt a Path

What is Adopt a Path?

The Adopt-a-Path scheme encourages you to walk or ride a path (or network of paths) of your choosing 2-3 times per year and report any problems back to the public rights of way team.

The scheme encourages volunteers to inspect paths in their local area and assist in their upkeep to ensure that they are in a satisfactory condition for the whole community.

What will I be expected to do?

  • Walk or ride paths on a regular basis, say 2-3 times per year
  • Report any problems or obstructions
  • Undertake minor maintenance such as knocking back any intruding growth
  • You will not be required to deal directly with farmers or landowners

An information pack containing all relevant details and maps will be sent to you. Members will also receive a quarterly newsletter keeping them upto date with information and events relating to public rights of way.

So whether you are an avid rambler or simply enjoy short local walks, why not join the Adopt-a-Path scheme and get to know your rights of way.
