The LTP is changed in 2006. It concentrates on four transport priorities shared between local and central government.
The Four Shared Transport Priorities
Tackling Congestion - we will manage the road network better to reduce traffic congestion by planning and introducing the right balance of transport measures such as parking pricing and restraint, better public transport, better facilities for cyclists and pedestrians.
Accessibility Planning - We will improve the ability of people to access places of work, learning, health care, shopping and leisure by better planning the location of services and the transport that serves them.
Safer Roads - We will improve the safety of our roads for all users - especially the most vulnerable ones such as children, people with disabilities and older people.
Better Air Quality - We will address air pollution issues associated with traffic emissions on local roads.
