Rotherham has produced a Parking Strategy to plan how we will provide car parking throughout the borough for the next five years. It contains a strategy for both the urban (town) centre and the outlying district centres and is based on principles that reflect:
- National, regional and local objectives for regeneration, transport and the environment.
- The mitigation of changes in the town's comparatively modest parking stock as a result of regeneration in the urban centre stemming from the Objective 1 programme and the Rotherham Urban Centre Integrated Development Plan.
- Improvements to the overall parking service provided by the Council identified during the Best Value review process.
From 4th July 2005, Rotherham Borough Council adopted Decriminalised Parking Enforcement powers and took over the enforcement of on-street parking restrictions within the Borough. On and off-street parking will be managed within the LTP policy framework.
