Rural areas currently face a number of transport problems including:
- Infrequent public transport services
- Incresing traffic growth and congestion
- Excessive speeds on many country roads
- Road Safety Dangers
To address these issues, the Council has developed a Countryside Traffic Management Strategy (CTMS). It was formulated by a working group consisting of representatives from Rotherham, Sheffield and Doncaster Councils, South Yorkshire Police, The Countryside Agency and the Campaign to Protect Rural England
