A School Travel Plan is a package of agreed measures to help reduce the number of car trips both to and from school by parents and staff and for improving safety for pupils on the journey to school. To cut down the number of car journeys to school a number of schools in Rotherham are adopting travel plans that utilise a range of measures including walking buses and safe routes to school.
Contribution to shared priorities
School Travel Plans contribute to better air quality and reduced congestion by reducing the number of cars on the school run. They will help to improve road safety by identifying safe routes to school and alternatives to the private car.
