The purpose of speed management is to manage vehicle speeds at levels that reflect the needs of all road users and which are in harmony with the needs of communities and the environment. This will result in a safer, more pleasant road environment for all. Slower speeds will result in less severe injuries when accidents do occur.
Slower speeds will greatly improve the environment and reduce community severance for those living in our towns and villages. The determination of speed limits will take into account the needs of all road users particularly the more vulnerable highway users such as cyclists and pedestrians
