The four councils of South Yorkshire have got together to provide a local car share site to encourage people in Rotherham, Sheffield, Barnsley and Doncaster to share their journey, save money, and ease the congestion on our roads.
If everyone chose to share just one journey a week, the traffic on the roads would be reduced to levels like the school holidays. It is estimated that the average car sharer can save up to £1000 a year - more than enough for a new TV or a holiday.

Car-sharing aims to reduce the number of single occupant car journeys to and from our town and city centres and major work sites. We are encouraging major employers or groups of smaller employers to introduce car share schemes.
These schemes try to match staff, that live close to one another and work in the same building or area, who would be willing to share a car for the journey to and from work.
Car sharing can be arranged when it is convenient for the sharers. Every little bit helps - even one day a week is a 20% reduction in car use. Car share cuts travel and parking costs and gives sharers an opportunity to socialise. To discover more benefits of car-sharing, see our leaflet.
