Amazingly, this is still only about a tenth of the waste paper we collected. Not all of it can be recycled economically, but we could certainly recycle a lot more, with your help.
Using your Blue Bags for paper
On average, every family in the UK throws away about 8.5 kilograms (nearly 19 pounds) of paper and card each week. Rotherham's existing Blue Bag scheme for recycling paper will continue alongside the new Blue Box collections for glass, cans and textiles.
Paper you can put in your Blue Bag includes:
- newspapers and magazines
- catalogues
- junk mail
- office stationery
- all phone directories including Yellow Pages
- other types of white paper.
Please DON'T put into the Blue Bag:
- cardboard
- envelopes (because of the glue).
If you run out of Blue Bags, please put your paper for recycling in a carrier bag next to your Blue Box.
