Research Services
The Archives and Local Studies Service offers a research service for family history and local history enquiries from people who are unable to visit in person.
 |
|
There are three levels of service:
1. Routine enquiries about Archives and Local Studies services. This includes opening hours, making bookings, availability of particular sources etc. There is no charge for this service. |
2. Requests for photocopies or transcripts For example, extracts from books, pamphlets, newspapers & journals, parish registers, census enumerators' returns etc. This is where exact references are supplied - The charge includes the cost of the copies and a handling charge.
3. Requests for research into original documents This might include archival documents, books, pamphlets, newspapers and journals, site histories, parish registers, census microfilm etc. This is where exact references and dates cannot be supplied - Here charges are for up to a half hour or per hour/part hour there after (to include VAT, return postage within the U.K. and up to 6 photocopies).
