Does childcare in Rotherham meet your needs?

As a statutory duty of The Childcare Act 2006 RMBC is required to complete a Childcare Sufficiency Assesment. This is a measurement of the childcare provision within Rotherham. It takes into account the extent and nature of childcare that is available whilst also assessing the need for childcare based on the views of parents and carers and the number of children residing in the borough.

RMBC comissioned research consultants to undertake face to face interviews with parents across Rotherham in July 2007 and information from Childcare providers was gathered in this same period. The findings were then used to produce a childcare sufficiency assessment for the Rotherham borough.

A draft report document detailing the results of the Childcare Sufficiency Assessment was produced and released for consultation during March 2008.

The final report has been approved by cabinet and is to stand as an annex of RMBC’s Children and Young peoples plan. The plan is available via the link below with hard copies shortly being available at local Libraries. An action plan to address the gaps identified within the assessment is currenlty being produced.

Should you have any queries or comments about the Childcare Sufficiency Assessment please contact Maria O’Brien on 01709 822549.
