Education Welfare Service

The Education Welfare Service (EWS) seeks to remove barriers which prevent pupils accessing education and enables them to maximise their attainment at school. Our vision is to bring all pupils who are on the margins into the mainstream of educational opportunity.

Rotherham Education Welfare Service provides support to schools in relation to school attendance and pupil welfare. Education Welfare Officers are based mainly in Secondary Schools providing a service to the Secondary School and the cluster of Primary Schools.

The Service has responsibility within the LEA for:

Entertainment Licencing
Home Based Education
Training
Child Protection Training
Attendance Training
Exclusions Training
