Education Psychology

Overview

The Educational Psychology Service [EPS] is part of the Children and Young Peoples Services.

The Educational Psychology Service make a major contribution to Community and Corporate Policies. The Educational Psychology Service opens up learning opportunities for all pupils and students, supports the most vulnerable and challenges inequalities. The right of to be included in Education enables individuals to play a key role in developing our local economy and regenerating Rotherham.

Rotherham has approximately 63,000 children under the age of 19. The Educational Psychology Service is a community service supporting children and families and challenging schools/educational establishments to improve their systems.

Our aim is to help remove barriers to achievement and inclusion, we do this by focussing on partnership working, emotional well being, thinking and learning. The main area of our work is centred in vulnerable children and schools.

As a service we prioritise complex situations and at the same time offer a flexible service with an emphasis on early intervention.

We work with people to:

• make sense of their concerns
• take effective action which adds value
• monitor and evaluate the work we do
• share best practice

In all our work we balance support and challenge in order to promote equality of opportunity, inclusion and the learning agenda.
