Crowden Outdoor Centre

Crowden Outdoor Education Centre is situated in the Longdendale Valley, an area of natural beauty within the Peak District National Park, ideal for adventurous activities and project work linked to the National Curriculum.
The centre has a history of providing Outdoor Education
for young people in Rotherham. After an extensive rebuild and renovation programme, the centre re-opened in February 2007 in partnership with the Youth Hostels Association.

Accommodation

The Youth Hostels Association manage the accommodation and running of the centre. The accommodation is a new purpose built two storey building which accommodates 32 young people in bedrooms of four.There are four separate staff bedrooms with toilet and shower facilities. The centre is built to Disability Discrimination Act Standards, with a lift to the upper floor. It has a games room and TV lounge for relaxation in the evenings. The centre also boasts a drying room and activity stores.

Activity Programme

Activity Programmes are managed by Rotherham Outdoor Education Services. The Senior Worker for Outdoor Education is available to discuss each organisation’s requirements and devise programmes to meet their needs.Pre-visit inspections can be arranged for staff, please contact the Senior Worker for Outdoor Education.Activities are covered by the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA) licence No R0410.
