A joint approach to developing and delivering our Strategy has been agreed by the other South Yorkshire Authorities. We will do this in partnership with the South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive and South Yorkshire Local Transport Plan Partnership. The Department for Children, Schools and Families has also endorsed our approach.
The Vision
The South Yorkshire Vision is to better meet the needs of children and young people by providing and promoting travel and transport choices and improving safety.
Our Objectives
The objectives of this Strategy are to:
• Improve travel safety
• Encourage travel by modes other than the private car
• Improve travel choice and raise awareness of different travel options
• Provide relevant and up to date travel information for pupils and parents in time for admissions
• Influence travel planning policy
• Reduce congestion on local roads
• Address air quality and have greater regard for climate change through encouraging sustainable modes of travel.
