The Children's Champion

The primary role of the Children's Champion is encourage the young people to become active readers and members of the library.

This is done through:

  • Being enthusiastic with and on behalf of the young people of the borough
  • Reading games, quizzes, competitions and workshops promoting creativity
  • Arranging class visits in support of the school curriculum where children can participate in a variety of activities designed to widen their reading experience
  • Arranging regular class visits to their local library where children are given the opportunity to borrow books from a large selection on a weekly basis
  • Organising an annual Summer Reading Challenge.

It's simple… read books.. have fun… and receive prizes

The Children's Champion is also involved with the planning and delivery of the Library Services summer activities.
