Absolute Beginners

Our Absolute Beginners package of online courses is an easy way to learn the basics, from handling a mouse to sending an email.

These online courses from the BBC are really easy to follow, and you can work through each one in your own time. Once you've completed each session you can print off your own certificate.

If you prefer the personal touch why not attend one of the Absolute Beginners sessions held in libraries? Library staff will teach you the basics in 5 easy sessions.

There are 4 stages to learning more about computers and the internet, and we recommend that you work through each section in the order shown here.

Here's what you'll learn:

Session 1 - Absolute Beginners' Guide to Using Your Computer (about 1 hour)
A quick 1 hour introduction to using a computer. This session will get you started with using a mouse and keyboard. Very basic and easy to follow.

Session 2 - Computer Tutor 1 (about 1½ hours)
Learn how to use a mouse, keyboard and computer screen. Lots of activities to help you practice what you learn.

Learn how to use e-mail, the internet, a digital camera and more. Again, lots of fun activities to help you learn.
