Rotherham's Delivery System

Following the publication of the Government Game Plan document in 2002 Sport England created ‘Delivery System for Sport’. To support this objective Sport England produced the Yorkshire Plan for Sport (2004) in which there was a target to create 28 Community Sports Networks in the Yorkshire region by December 2006, which has now been achieved.

The Community Sports Networks objective is to contribute to improving how sport operates and communicates across the UK.

The Community Sports Network for Rotherham is called the ‘Rotherham Active Partnership’ (RAP), and was launched in April 2006 and now over 80 interested partners who have signed up to join the partnership.

The RAP is made up of public, private and voluntary sector partners working at a strategic level. It has agreed its terms of reference and is now working towards building a robust strategic framework that will take the partnership through the next five years.

The Partnership is in the process of establishing a second communication tier the Rotherham Active Network, which will be the operational arm, Improving communication with clubs, groups who deliver sport and physical activity at a local level.
