Warren Vale LNR

Rough pasture with invading scrub on the site of Warren Vale Colliery, formerly the Rawmarsh Colliery Victoria Pit, sunk in 1837 and worked until 1897.

A number of plantations date from the mid-1970's when they were established by the former South Yorkshire County Council. The LNR was designated in 1993.

The LNR is very undulating with a general slope up to the northwest with colliery spoil still visible in places. It is heavily used, especially for walking, and is criss-crossed by informal paths, some being eroded.
