Hazel Road Wood
Hazel Road Wood consists of 1 hectacre of woodland owned by the Council.
A narrow stretch of broad-leaved woodland on a SW-facing slope with amenity grassland and an old Hawthorn hedge on northeast. The canopy is patchy, best in the northwest. The shrub layer is often diverse and well developed but there is relatively little regeneration of potential canopy replacement trees.
There are small, shady and sometimes damp depressions throughout the wood. The botanical diversity is relatively high and the limestone influence is clear.
Hazel Road Wood is shown on the 1855 OS map. It was conveyed to Rotherham MBC in 1951.
