Golf

Golf is well catered for in Rotherham, with many high quality private courses such as those at Sitwell, Phoenix, Thrybergh and Wath and the championship course at Lindrick on the Yorkshire/Nottinghamshire boundary.

The Council's own golf course at Grange Park is open to everyone, residents and visitors alike, and is recognised as amongst the best 18-hole golf courses in South Yorkshire, providing excellent golf in an extremely attractive landscape. Access is via the A629 Upper Wortley Road; follow the signs for M1 northbound at Thorpe Hesley and watch for the entrance on the left, a mile or so beyond the town centre. Tel.: 01709 559497.

There is also a golf centre at Rother Valley Country Park which incorporates an 18-hole lakeside course cunningly designed by Mark Roe, one of Europe's top tournament professional golfers. It is known colloquially as the Blue Monster from the combination of its 6,000 metre length and many water features. The golf driving centre is open from 7am to 9.30pm daily.
