The Civic Theatre and Arts Centre have a vision to inform, challenge, inspire and entertain’ and provide access to arts for all.

The venues provide opportunities for people of all ages to participate in and experience a wide range of arts activities such as children’s shows, young people’s workshops and educational events, drama, music, and pantomime with an emphasis on encouraging participants to have fun.

Rotherham Civic Theatre was converted from a Congregational Church to create an intimate medium scale, proscenium arch performance space. The Theatre plays host to many companies throughout the year with a programme which appeals to everyone. A wide programme of professional and amateur dance, drama, musicals, children’s theatre, comedy, music, pantomime and variety is presented from September until July every year.

The Arts Centre offers a wide range of spaces to accommodate customer needs including a small scale black box studio theatre, arts and craft room, meeting rooms and café/bar. The studio theatre is an perfect space in which to present innovative and experimental touring dance, drama, music events and children’s theatre.

Facilities offered by the theatre included wheelchair access, a ‘deaf loop’ throughout the auditorium, and an audio commentary system for the blind and partially sighted.
