Preferred Options
The Core Strategy will be the first 'Development Plan Document' of Rotherham's Local Development Framework that will shape how Rotherham could look in the future. The Core Strategy will reflect the policies and objectives from other strategic documents including the Community Strategy, the Local Transport Plan and the Regional Spatial Strategy and set out the overall vision, objectives and spatial strategy for Rotherham over the next 15 years to 2021.
The Core Strategy Preferred Options have been prepared having regard to extensive earlier informal consultation surrounding the issues affecting the Borough and the alternative options for how it could be planned (see information archive below).
Consultation on the Preferred Options and the sustainability appraisal report that accompanies them, took place between 5th February and 23rd March 2007. Feedback from this consultation is now available from the following reports.

Annex 1 Summary of Responses and the Council’s Appraisal (187Kb)

A summary of all meetings held throughout the Borough including the dates, times, place and officers in attendance. A summary of the Council’s response to the issues raises is also included.
Annex 3 Sustainability Appraisal Response and the Council’s Appraisal (336kb)
Containing all responses received to the sustainability appraisal, their analysis and recommendation for further action and changes to the Core Strategy.
The Feedback Report was presented to elected Members at the Local Development Framework Steering Group on 21st September 2007 for their information and approval to publish the Feedback Reports.

The representations and responses are sorted by Policy Direction number so simply scroll down to see all representations within a particular area of interest. To search for words or phrases in the document click on the search icon at the top of the screen (picture of binoculars) – enter the word e.g. your surname or organisation you wish to search for and click on the ‘search’ button. This will produce a list of results and clicking on these will take you to that part of the document. Each respondent has a unique I.D. number – enter this into the search criteria if you are aware of this number and wish to see all representations from this particular respondent.

Core Strategy Preferred Options – Supporting Background Documents
Preparation of the Core Strategy has been informed by a number of supporting plans, strategies and initiatives both of the Council and external organisations. To encourage early participation in the preparation of the Core Strategy we have been working with the Local Development Framework’s “front loaders” club of interested people and organisations. We held a front loaders workshop on 17 February 2006 to present and discuss our early work on the Core Strategy Options. Following the February 2006 Workshop wider informal ‘Choices’ consultation took place during May and June 2006 involving more detailed workshop sessions with representatives of local community groups, the Rotherham Partnership and specialist groups of interest. This was facilitated by a leaflet and questionnaire based upon the information set out in Papers 1-3 above.
