During their routine inspections Animal Health
Inspectors will provide advice and assistance on:
- Livestock identification
- Animal movement licences and passports
- Livestock records
- Veterinary medicine records
- Bio-security measures
- Vehicle standards/construction
- Disposal of animal by-products
Animal Health Inspectors are required to enforce
breaches of the legislation. In the most extreme cases this
may mean prosecution of offenders.
The legislation is regularly updated and we are
committed to ensuring that the advice and information we
provide is reliable and easily understood. Effective
enforcement is paramount in promoting confidence in the
British Agriculture Sector following a series of notifiable
animal disease outbreaks such as Foot and Mouth Disease and
Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE).
