    Licence - Livestock Movements - Animal Movement Licensing

    All movements of cattle, deer, sheep, goats and pigs are controlled by a General Licence issued by the Secretary of State, Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).


    In addition to the general licence deer, sheep and goats must be accompanied by a form AML1 and pigs by a form AML2 and these are obtained from the Animal Health Inspector. The forms can be viewed on:

    Cattle must be accompanied by their passports. Cattle passports are issued by the British Cattle Movement Service, Curwen Road, Workington, Cumbria CA14 2DD. Tel: 0845 0501234, Fax: 01900 202051.

    Horses must be accompanied by their passports when they are moved for the purposes of competition or breeding, moved out of the United Kingdom, or moved on to the premises of a new keeper.
