These reports come from companies who under the
Reporting of Injuries, Disease and Dangerous Occurrences
Regulations 1995 (RIDDOR) have to report certain incidents
to us, or from concerned members of the public, employees,
emergency services and other organisations.
Each year we investigate a
proportion of notified accidents in accordance with our
selection criteria. Investigation may involve calling the
company concerned for further details through to visiting
the site, taking evidence and statements from
witnesses.
Our aim is to:
Establish the
cause;
Minimise the risk
of a recurrence;
Evaluate the
adequacy of health and safety arrangements;
Provide health and
safety assistance;
Take enforcement
action where appropriate.
