This is with regards to issuing General Safety
Certificates, Special Safety Certificates and Regulated
Stand Certificates for sports grounds in the Borough, where
applicable.
The responsibility for the issuing of the above
certificates is delegated to the Head of Neighbourhood
Services who chairs and co-ordinates the Safety Advisory
Group (S.A.G.). The S.A.G. comprises Health and Safety
Officers from Neighbourhood Standards together with
colleagues from the Building Control service. Also
represented on the Group are the Police, Fire and Ambulance
services, the Football Licensing Authority and
representatives from the relevant sports ground(s).
At present in Rotherham the only ground requiring a
General Safety Certificate is Millmoor, home of Rotherham
United Football Club. There are currently no stands
requiring a Regulated Stand Certificate.
The S.A.G. ensure that the reasonable requirements laid
out in the Safety Certificate are monitored and complied
with when in use for the specified activities at the ground
and ensure any developments at the ground follow the Guide
to Safety at Sports Grounds (4
th ed.) by holding regular meetings and carrying
out in-match inspections during the course of the
season.
