What is ReadSpeaker ?
ReadSpeaker makes websites talk, it allows visitors to listen as well as read our website.
It can read most file formats including word and PDF and works on most Internet browsers
What do you need to use ReadSpeaker ?
You do not need text-to-speech software to use Readspeaker. All you need is a computer with Internet connection, soundcard and headphones/speakers. It doesn't require any plug in's or downloads and you can use it straight away.
How do I use ReadSpeaker ?
To use ReadSpeaker you must first activate it by clicking on the ReadSpeaker icon, this is displayed on the home page.
Once activated the ReadSpeaker banner will appear at the top of the page, there are 2 different ways to operate ReadSpeaker, you can either:
• Read Text - this will read all the text that appears on the page but not the links.
• Read Links - this will read all the links that appear on the page but not the text.
When using ReadSpeaker you don't have to read the whole of the page, you can choose to listen to a section only. To do this highlight the text you are interested in and click on text. Only the selected text will be read out.
You can also choose the speed of the reader by choosing the settings option. There are five settings to choose from - Very Slow, Slow, Normal, Fast and Very Fast so select the one which suits you best.
To stop ReadSpeaker at any time, simply click on the "Stop" icon.
If at any time you need help using ReadSpeaker, click on the "Help" icon.
Is there a charge for this service ?
No, ReadSpeaker is free of charge for the user and works for most common web browsers without the need to download specific plugins or software.
