Introduction

The Council's Asset Management service has been awarded beacon status for its excellent practices. The delivery of these practices is continually being developed as a means of ensuring that Rotherham's assets are maximised and that the community strategy is transformed from vision into reality.

The Department of Communities and Local Government awards the beacon accolade and acknowledged Rotherham's excellent work. Minister John Prescott praised Rotherham for its "vision, innovation and excellent service…the awarding of beacon status to Rotherham demonstrates its particular achievements"

Rotherham's significant achievements include:

  • A commitment at all levels from members and officers to asset management
  • Integrated corporate management of financial and property assets
  • A comprehensive integrated asset management database
  • Wide ranging partnership working
  • Close monitoring of asset performance
  • Clear, transparent protocols and procedures

Rotherham's excellent asset management has achieved major outcomes and also enhances everyone's quality of life in the long run.
