Key Issues We Are Addressing

Policy team

  • Implement strategy to avoid/minimise equal pay challenges
  • Implement outcomes of Job Evaluation exercise in a phased plan to be completed by April 2007
  • Produce list of options for negotiation to harmonise these Part 3 Single Status terms & conditions
  • Development of improved HR data reporting and workforce profiling information.
  • Flexible working promotion
  • Raise awareness of work-life balance/flexible working opportunities
  • Increase take-up of home-based working
  • Improve recording incidences of flexible working methods
  • Pensions review in response to proposed changes April 05 and April 08.
  • Improved awareness of major HR policies across M4 and M3 manager tiers by Manager Awareness sessions (via RBT advice & guidance team)
  • Development of new Redeployment policy, travelling & subsistence, Dignity at Work policy

Partnerships team

  • Improve skills for life in the workforce (literacy and numeracy)
  • Improve employee perceptions of levels of stress
  • Increase the representation of women and black and minority ethnic (BME) workers at senior levels and raise the proportion of BME and disabled workers amongst the workforce as a whole
  • Improve opportunities for young workers in the Council

People team

  • Developing "Exchange" - a variety of methods of employee involvement
  • Managing the assessment of the Council against the Investors in People standard
  • Running the current in-house management development programme and developing a new mamagement development programme
  • Implementing development centres for managers
  • Piloting the new workforce planning framework and supporting departments in its application
