Beacon Awards
The Beacon Scheme, run by the Department of Communities and Local Government, recognises good practice across several themes. The aim is to recognise best-performing councils and to help spread good practice. EDS has secured Beacon status under seven categories. You can find out more on the

Quality Assurance

All the services provided by EDS are certificated to the ISO9001:2000 standard for Quality Management.
This is the internationally recognised standard for quality management in both the public and private sectors.
Certification is evidence of our ability, through the way we manage our processes, to provide services to a consistantly high level of quality, our commitment to satisfying our customers' needs and to continuous improvement.

Local Government Chronicle Environment Award
The programme area's Streetpride initiative has picked up a major national award for its efforts to keep the local environment clean and tidy.

Environmental Management Achievements
Our environmental management system provides a framework to manage significant environmental impacts produced by the Council. EMAS registration has been achieved by EDS and other parts of the Council. You can find out more on the
