Central Finance

Central Finance is made up of six teams:

• Corporate Accountancy
• Strategic Finance
• Exchequer Services
• Systems Development
• Special Projects and Technical
• External Funding

The key areas of work are:

• Overseeing the preparation and monitoring of the Medium Term Financial Strategy and Revenue Budget
• Overseeing the closure of Financial Accounts and publication of the Council’s Statement of Accounts
• Participating in the preparation and monitoring of Capital Strategy and Programme and prudential indicators
• Preparing and implementing the Council’s Treasury Management and Investment Strategy
• Undertaking special assignments, eg. Base Budget Review, review of financial management, technical research and support
• Ensuring that the Council’s tax planning and administration is carried out effectively
• Preparing timely bank reconciliations
• Ensuring prompt payment and reconciliation of the Council’s creditors
• Ensuring that the Council’s debtors are invoiced promptly and amounts due recovered as speedily as possible
• Maintaining the Council’s financial information system upon which all its financial records and published information will be based
• Receipting and processing income received by the Council
