Service Accountancy consists of 4 teams, presently located in individual Service Areas:
- Children & Young People’s Services
- Adult Social Care, Chief Executive, Financial Services and Central Finance
- Economic and Development and Culture and Leisure Services
- Neighbourhoods
The primary aim of the Department is the provision of professional, comprehensive, accurate and timely advice and guidance to managers to facilitate the development and delivery of efficient and effective frontline services for the people of Rotherham.
The key areas of work are:
- Participating in the preparation and monitoring of the Medium Term Financial Strategy and Revenue and Capital Budgets
- Participating in the closure of Financial Accounts and publication of the Council’s Statement of Accounts
- Ensuring that the accounts of the service area are prepared in accordance with proper accounting practices and are linked into the Council’s main accounting systems
- Giving sound financial advice to Programme Areas in support of delivering their Services
- Promoting the efficient use of finance to deliver value for money services
- Completing and submitting accurate financial and statistical statutory and non-statutory returns
- Participating in special assignments, e.g. Base Budget Review; review of financial management; technical research and support.
