The Registration Service
carried out a customer survey from Sept 2004 to December
2004. The aim of the survey was to ask the general public
their opinions on Government plans to modernise the
Registration Service.
Proposals for modernisation,
called the Regulatory Reform Order, were put before
parliament in December 2004. Parliament made a decision
that, whilst it is still very much of the opinion that the
Registration Service should be modernised, further
consideration needs to be given to how the Service is
reformed. This means the original plans for modernisation
need to be reviewed and reform of the Registration Service
will now be delayed.
However Rotherham Council
always welcomes the views of the public and despite delays
to the modernisation programme; the survey told us some
important things about what you want from the Registration
Service. We will take your views into account when planning
our services in the the future.
