David Wilkes - Lead Integration Specialist

History
I Started with the Council back in July 2002 as a Desktop Support Officer, based in the Chief Executive’s Office. From here I moved to the new joint venture company, RBT, doing a similar role but working across the whole Council. Then I shifted to a Desktop Deployment role, which involved going round many offices within the Council, ‘refreshing’ everyone’s PC with a new model.

What does your current job entail?
Administration of the Council’s new intranet site and also the internet portal. I also develop and maintain a variety of electronic forms, like the one for on-line job applications. I work on large integration projects and develop applications to work along side these.

What do you most like about your job?
The fact that I have access to the latest software and technology, and I’m able to investigate and research others. And personally, I really like it when I develop something that’s up and running successfully.

Plus I work with a great team of people and get to meet a range of them from across the Council.

What are the benefits of working for the Council?
I think the flexi-time and home working schemes are great because it’s an extra day off a month. I get another lie in right? It’s really helped me to balance my home and work life.

I’ve also been on specialist training which has helped me develop throughout my role and learn new and exciting technologies.
