Councillor Georgina Boyes Website - Biography

A writer and broadcaster, Georgina has lived all her adult life in the Rotherham area and is married with a grown-up family. As well as serving as Chair of the Regeneration Scrutiny Panel and a member of the Performance and Scrutiny Overview Committee on Rotherham Borough Council, Georgina is Rotherham’s Heritage Champion, Chair of the Council’s Design Panel and a member of the South Yorkshire Police Authority and the Yorkshire South Tourism Board.

“After all the losses of the past decades,” says
Georgina, “I’m really proud to have the chance to be involved in the regeneration that’s taking place across Rotherham. With new jobs and industries and twenty-first century buildings for schools, libraries and leisure centres, local communities are getting the chance to flourish as they deserve. I think one of the most important aspects of my role as a Councillor is representing local people’s views on how the new Rotherham takes shape. And as Heritage Champion, I also want to play a part in ensuring the best of the old is maintained as we move forward with the new.”

When she’s not involved in work for Rother Vale Ward and the Council, Georgina’s main interests are music, historical research, gardening and walking. “Best of all.” she says, “I like to spend time with my family
