Councillor Simon Currie Website - Biography

As your local labour councillor I am committed to reducing crime, especially that associated with anti-social behaviour, improving education at all key stages, building more affordable housing, boosting the local economy and regenerating and improving the tidiness and quality of the local environment, such as the parks and open spaces.

And as your councillor I have been working with my ward colleagues and partner agencies to improve the quality of service that the Valley community deserves. For example, I am involved with the Area Assembly to help effectively target resources in order to reduce crime and anti-social nuisance. Being a member of the Council’s Children & Young People’s Scrutiny Panel, means ensuring that our children get the best education.

Also on my list of priorities is Improving housing, community facilities and the local environment.

My knowledge, enthusiasm and commitment to working closely with tenants residents, local groups and the parish councils means that together we can take Valley forward.

I am therefore asking for your support in letting me know of issues that concern you so come along to the surgeries or phone me I will be glad to hear from you.

In return for your support I pledge that I will…

    • Support ongoing investment in Housing and leisure through PFI, Decent Homes and Housing Market Renewal.
    • Work with the police and the safer neighbourhood teams to reduce the fear of crime by combating anti social behaviour and crime.
    • Maintain focus on local issues with the Area Assembly team.
    • Work closely with my two colleagues in a united front to maintain and improve council services for young and old.
    • Support continuing investment in our schools.
    • Hold regular surgeries across the ward.
