The 24th November, 2005 saw the introduction of the Licensing Act 2003 which replaced the Licensing Act 1964 and other pieces of legislation entirely and put the administration of alcohol licences and other regulated activities under one licensing regime administered by Local Authorities.

The Licensing Act 2003 requires that Licensing Authorities publish a Statement of Licensing Policy which must be reviewed every three years.  The latest Policy document was published in January 2011.
