Lead Commissioner Mary Ney
Commissioner Ney was appointed Lead Commissioner on 1 April 2017. She previously served as a supporting Commissioner from February 2015.

Commissioner Ney was formerly the Chief Executive of the Royal Borough of Greenwich from 2000 to 2014. She was an inspector to Louise Casey’s inspection of Rotherham, where she led the partnership working strand of the inspection.
Commissioner Ney worked for Southwark Social Services for 12 years as Assistant Director responsible for Finance and Strategy. In 1992 she became Director of Social Services for the London Borough of Harrow with responsibility for Social Services, Housing, Environmental Health and Commissioning Trading Standards.
During her time at Greenwich she oversaw the transformation of council services, major regeneration of the borough and the hosting of three venues for the Olympic and Paralympic Games which led to the Council being awarded ‘Council of the Year 2013’.
Commissioner Ney is currently a Non-Executive Director on the Department for Communities and Local Government Ministerial Board and is a consultant in local government.
