Rotherham Adventure Playground
Rotherham Adventure Playground opened in Spring 2010. It provides an exciting new play environment on green space at Erskine Road, Eastwood, Rotherham.
About Adventure play
Adventure playgrounds are areas which are dedicated to children and young people's supervised play. They evolve through a process of community involvement and participation from children and young people at the design stage and result in a space that they can call their own and develop where their imagination leads them.
We believe that Rotherham Adventure Playground should provide a wide range of positive and challenging play experiences for children and young people with activities which are usually considered out of bounds, but which through play worker facilitation enable them to get involved in:
- den building
- digging
- fire making
- growing food and cooking outdoors
- climbing
- planting
- playing with and helping to build large structures such as climbing frames and swings
- story telling and group activities
Children will be able to experience the elements as part of their play and there will be regular access to earth, water, sand and other loose materials and objects.
There will also be an indoor space with fully accessible and DDA compliant toilets, washing and cooking facilities and space for a range of play opportunities and relaxation.
