Warren Vale LNR
The reserve consists of rough pasture with invading scrub on the site of Warren Vale Colliery, formerly the Rawmarsh Colliery Victoria Pit, sunk in 1837 and worked until 1897.
A number of plantations date from the mid-1970s when they were established by the former South Yorkshire County Council. The LNR was designated in 1993.
The LNR is very undulating with a general slope up to the northwest with colliery spoil still visible in places. It is heavily used, especially for walking. It is criss-crossed by informal paths, some being eroded.
