Gas appliance servicing

The Council's partner Willmott Dixon carries out a Gas Safety Check at all Council properties at least once every 12 months to keep you safe.

This ensures your gas appliances are working safely. To help us carry out the gas service, we need gas and electric card meters to be in credit, and we need access to the gas meter to test for leaks. As we have a legal obligation to carry out this work, failure to allow access is a breach of your Tenancy Agreement. In this case, we would apply to the court for an injunction to allow access.

We offer appointments from 8am to 5.45pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 4pm on Saturday. If your Gas Safety Check is due, or if you think it has been more than 12 months since we last attended, you are welcome to contact us to arrange an appointment on 01709 822265.

If you are a leaseholder or owner occupier we can carry out gas services for you for an annual fee of £140. This not only keeps you save, but helps improve your appliances' performance and efficiency, cuts down fuel bills and reduces Rotherham's carbon footprint.
