Books and reading

Join us on a journey filled with books and reading!

At Rotherham Libraries we have huge enthusiasm for books and reading and we would like to share it with you.

This is the place to be if you would like to get some inspiration to help choose your next book, find out about our readers groups and readers' set service, listen to others talking about their reading experience in our podcast collection or just keep informed about prizewinning or popular titles.

Get reading!

You can find and reserve your next book using the library catalogue, where you'll also find information about new items added to stock.  Prism 3 is our new catalogue and lots of new features will be added over the next few months, including reader reviews.

What to read next

Sometimes we could all do with a bit of help choosing our next book.

Find out what other readers would (or wouldn't!) recommend.

Library staff are always happy to recommend new titles and authors, or you might find some inspiration here:

Why not try the Six Book Challenge? Ask staff for details.

Look out for the new collection of Quick Reads in our libraries, a collection of short books by bestselling writers and celebrities. These exciting, dramatic and funny stories are ideal for adults who\'ve stopped reading or find reading tough, and for regular readers who want a short, fast read.

    Readers Groups

If you love reading and would like the chance to talk about books in an informal and friendly environment then we can help.

Many of our libraries have readers' groups that meet once a month. Our groups read a wide range of fiction, with the Central Library running groups specifically for readers of large print and science fiction.
